SACE
South Australian Certificate of Education
There are two stages to the SACE:
Stage 1, which most students do in Year 11
Stage 2, which most students do in Year 12
Each subject or course earns credits towards the SACE. Ten credits are equal to one semester or two terms. 20 credits are equal to a
full-year subject.
Your teacher will map out an Education Plan for you. If you are over 18 and have had a 12 month break from education you are eligible for Adult Status. If you qualify for Adult Status you will be given status for some of the Year 11 credits. 200 credits are needed to gain the SACE certificate. Some TAFE and other courses may count towards your SACE. Your teacher will include these courses in your Education Plan.
The compulsory subjects are:
The Personal Learning Plan (10 credits at Stage 1). If you have Adult Status it is not compulsory for you to complete this subject however if you choose to complete the subject it will count towards your SACE.
Literacy - at least 20 credits from a range of English subjects or courses. If you qualify for Adult Status you can choose to submit a folio instead. Your teacher will discuss this with you.
Numeracy - at least 10 credits from a range of Mathematics subjects or course. If you qualify for Adult Status you can choose to submit a folio instead. Your teacher will discuss this with you.
Research Project - an in-depth major project worth 10 credits at Stage 2 level
